I'm doing another book to hold my 12 Tags monthly challenges. This time I'm keeping it simple. I used a Worn Cover from Tim Holtz, altering it just a bit with more of Tim's product goodies. Different from last year I am only doing one page per month - as opposed to a 2 page spread; and I'm using a ring binder that fits the book cover to hold my pages. I just attached it to the book with Linen ribbon instead of brads.
I used a couple pre-cut grungeboard filigrees painted to look like old copper with a green patina. I used a Thinlet die to cut the black label from Grungeboard but even with two passes through the machine I still had to finish cutting it with my Xacto knife. It made a nice embossed border around the label though! After painting the label with black paint I coated it with Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint. Once dry I wiped Tarnished Brass paint over the top, spritzed with water so it would get in all the grooves and wiped off the excess from the surface. I applied Glossy Accents over the title label and filigrees and once dry I glued everything to the cover. Before gluing the label onto the cover I added an ornate keyhole and if you look very closely you'll see a tiny woman's face looking back at you through the keyhole.
