This month I made pages for Laura's book. Knowing that she likes the beach and it's getting to be summer I went with those prompts for her pages. I used all Tim Holtz dies to create my pages and I even used his recipe for faux sand from his July 2014 tag. It looks so real - even up close!
After creating my backgrounds with Distress Paints & Inks and a few flicks of water droplets I used the paper distresser on all the edges and inked them with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. I cut out some Sea Grass with the Tapered Fringe Decorative Strip Die, inking and distressing it to within an inch of it's life for lots of texture and dimension. Then I glued two strips of 'grass' near the bottom of each page.
For the Sea Horses I painted them then applied Clear Rock Candy Distress Paint. Once they were all dry and crackled I highlighted the crackles with a generous application of Pumice Stone Distress Stain then heat set it to dry it (otherwise it doesn't dry completely). The Starfish and Sand Dollar are embossed and inked using the same technique from Tim's July 2014 tag. The sentiment is stamped and embossed. I mixed and applied the 'sand' but once dry I coated it with Matte Medium so the sand would be more sturdy and not fall off from handling.
For a final finish I wired small MOP buttons to one page to look like bubbles.
That's it for now!
