This month Wendy Vecchi's challenge was to play with stencils. I had been seeing one of her new stencils that I just LOVED called Vintage Quilt and had asked my LSS to call me when it came in. Well, I got the call the day before this challenge was posted. Woohoo! So I used the Vintage Quilt and the Dots & Stripes Borders stencils on my tag.
The flower is from the Purpose of Art stamp set (SCS111) and the quote and lace border are from the Trademark Art stamp set (SCS132). The flower and quote are stamped on watercolor paper with Black Archival Ink and colored with Distress Markers (including the new Abandoned Coral - so pretty!) and a waterbrush. The lace border I stamped and embossed with embossing ink and Medieval Metal EP from Sweet Stamps. It's a superfine powder that's not really gold, platinum, silver or copper but a combination of all four - love it!
For the tag itself I colored a Manila tag with Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks. Then I used the Dots & Stripes Border stencil to create the blue (Salty Ocean), Green (Mowed Lawn) and Gold (Sharpie Paint Pen) striped border shifting the stencil slightly with each color. I edged the top and bottom of the striped border with a Copic black pen. I then used Broken China DI with the Vintage Quilt stencil over the rest of the tag. I wanted to jazz it up a bit so I added a dot of Platinum Stickles glitter glue to the center of each cross.
To finish the tag I fussy cut out the flower and border and attached them to the tag along with some Copper German Dresden border trim, crystals and a vintage brass flower and flower brad. Not sure how I feel about the brad but what's done is done.
